This artworks are made up of paintings on paper. The paper from the medicine boxes that accompanied me, served me and granted my autonomy.
These works that I´ve been painting since 2012, they are the interior of those medication boxes. When opened and exposed they take the shape of a cross. I recognized them as pennants and the figures became emblems and insignia. Uncompromised with any materiality. They decorate the banners and are more suited to construct the symbolism and set an ambiance to personal secrets.
Along this journey the connection with the disease became no longer the center of the story, but a starting point for a deeper investigation
.The banners represent milestones on the route. They are flags I have erected to record where I've been and also a mark to find my way back, in case it gets too dark.
They are allegories of a self-discovery. Delimitating borders, some friendly, some hostile, in a psychologic environment. Inventing escape routes and finding refuge in the void within the flesh.
The paintings describe a tangle of experiences, feelings, traumas and affections, originating from subjective, internal events.
A documentation of the psyche occuring a personal investigation with a psychoanalytic bias advancing into this very private space.
It is about the inhabitant of the body realising the symptoms, the fantasies, the fear, the guilt of survival, the expectation. The victories, the joy and the its subsequent reconfigurations of being.
